Austin Ray is a former WINNERS player who is set to graduate from McKinley Technology High School in 2016 (with a 3.88 GPA coming into this year!).

Austin recently received a POSSE Scholarship with a full ride to Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. A POSSE Scholarship is given to those students who exemplify strong leadership and incredible academic potential.

Austin started the WINNERS program in 7th grade and was selected as our WINNER of the year back in 2013.

He currently is a co-captain of the lacrosse team at School Without Walls, and hopes to continue playing in college. He is also involved in numerous extra-curricular programs such as Chess Club, Electric Vehicle Team, Boxing, and working at DC's summer youth employment program. This past summer he was selected to work as a participant in the College Success Foundation's HERO Summer Leadership Academy, which is a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math Program.

When asked if we could talk about his story, Austin said “Most definitely. WINNERS is part of my story. It helped me find something I love, for that, it would be an honor.”

See Austin play at the 8th annual DC Lacrosse Classic on March 12th at St. Alban's School or any Schools Without Walls game this season!
